How to Choose a Streaming Service
Nowadays people often opt for streaming services over live television. In fact over 60% of people under 30 prefer online streaming to television. With so much demand, it’s no wonder that we now have an abundance of options when it comes to streaming services. But, with so many choices available, how do you decide which is best for you?
Whether you want to binge the hottest trending show or have access to a huge library of movies, here are a few of the top streaming services.
Netflix
What started as a rental site for DVDs turned into the largest global streaming service. Netflix is a popular option for a reason, it offers access to a wide variety of titles in a range of genres from documentaries and horror films, to comedies and children’s shows.
Netflix is also known for creating enticing original series such as Stranger Things and Squid Game. If you’re looking for a diverse range of new and classic content, Netflix is a great option. One thing to note is that Netflix has different available titles depending on the region you’re in. For example, some films and shows that are available in the USA aren’t available in the UK.
Amazon Prime
Another favoured option is Amazon Prime. Not only does Amazon Prime give you access to fast and free shipping on Amazon, but it also hosts thousands of movies and TV shows. Even if a title isn’t available for streaming, you have the option to buy or rent, making the possibilities for content almost endless.
NOW
NOW is the streaming service for Sky TV and whilst it has significantly less titles available to stream than other services, it does have more access to the latest international shows and are typically the quickest to stream the latest cinema releases.
Sky’s on-demand streaming service is particularly good for sports fans, and it covers everything from rugby rumours to exclusive football interviews and occasional live matches. If sport is your main priority, NOW is a great choice.
Price Comparison
When it comes to cost, the cheapest option is Amazon Prime. Students can claim a membership fee for just £4.49 per month and a standard membership is £8.99 per month.
Meanwhile, Netflix with ads is next at £4.99 per month or you can go ad free for £10.99 per month. They also have a premium subscription for £17.99 which includes Ultra HD and extra devices.
On the other hand, the standard NOW package is £9.99 but they do have a six-month saver option for £6.99 a month. You can also go add free for an extra £6 per month.
Which Streaming Service is the Best?
Which streaming service is the best comes down to personal preference. If you are just looking for a good selection of films and shows, Netflix or Amazon Prime are great options. If international titles, sport, and the latest cinema releases sound more appealing to you, then NOW is likely the better option.
